Charging your ARI electric vehicle is very easy and can be done in just a few steps. All you need is a **standard 230 V socket** and the charging cable supplied as standard equipment. However, charging at a **wall box or charging station** is also possible with an adapter cable. **Fast charging cables** are also available for most of our vehicles, which greatly shorten the charging process.

 

So you have three options to choose from:

1. Charging at standard sockets (230 V) with standard charging cable
2. Charging at type 2 sockets using an adapter cable (also: wall box, charging station)
3. Charging with a fast charging cable

 

**Option 1: charging at standard sockets (230 V) with charging cable (2.5 m long)**

 

Where: e.g. home, depot, business premises

 

How:
1. Open the loading flap on the side of the ARI with vehicle key
2. Unscrew the cap from the charging connector
3. Plug the charging cable supplied as standard into the charging connection
4. Plug the charging cable into the outside socket (230 V).
5. Charge

 

**Option 2: Charging at type 2 sockets, wall boxes or charging stations by using an adapter cable**

 

Where: At charging stations or wall boxes (e.g. at the university, at the place of work, supermarket)

 

How:
1. Open the loading flap on the side of the ARI with the key
2. Unscrew the cap from the charging connector
3. Connect the optionally available adapter cable
4. Plug the adapter cable into the Type 2 socket/wall box/charging station
5. Charge

 

**Option 3: Charging with fast charging cable**

 

If charging is to be particularly fast, the use of a fast charging cable is a good idea. This reduces the charging period by about half.

How Do I Charge The ARI Electric Vehicle?

Security is an important issue for many customers. This article gives you an overview of the safety elements that are featured in the individual electric vehicles by ARI Motors. Because of course the safety of its customers and their passengers is the top priority for ARI Motors.

 

**ARI 145**

As an open electric scooter, the [three-wheeled cargo moped ARI 145](/en/cargo-mopeds/ari-145) is of course subject to the helmet requirement, to protect the driver's head in the event of a fall. However, falls with the [ARI 145](/en/cargo-mopeds/ari-145) cargo moped are rare, since the vehicle has three wheels - plus the front wheel and the double-wheeled rear axle are also individually sprung. As a result, the cargo moped not only has a dynamic driving experience, but is also protected from tipping over when driving through curves or on curbs. **ARI 345**

In contrast to the open [ARI 145 cargo moped](/en/cargo-mopeds/ari-145), the ARI 345 cargo trike (available with a [box body](/en/cargo-mopeds/ari-345/box) and as [pickup](/en/cargo-mopeds/ari-345/pickup)) has an open cabin with a stable roof and a 3-point belt. Consequently, the driver is very well protected in the event of tipping over or even a rollover, which is why helmets are not required. At the same time, it is difficult for the [ARI 345 cargo trike](/en/cargo-mopeds/ari-345/box) to tip over, since the rear double-wheel axle and the vehicle body prevent this. In addition, the electric motor mounted directly on the rear axle creates a low centre of gravity.

 

Like the [ARI 145 cargo moped](/en/cargo-mopeds/ari-145), robust disc brakes on the three wheels ensure a high level of braking power. Furthermore, the vehicle has a windscreen wiper in the front windscreen of the cabin, which ensures a clear view and thus high driving safety even when it rains. No rainy or fogged up helmet visors. The LED driving light also enables good visibility at night or in bad weather. Additionally, the additional daytime running light function ensures that the cargo moped is clearly visible in traffic at all times.

 

**ARI 458 + ARI 802, 252 und 452**

Light vehicles of the EU vehicle class L7e must meet special requirements for EU approval. Good all-round visibility is also very important to avoid accidents. Due to the large window areas, the ARI light vehicles always have a good view of the traffic situation around them. The powerful LED driving lights ensure that there is good visibility even at night and in fog and that the vehicle is always clearly visible to other participants. And the comparatively low top speed of 80 km/h means that accidents often only result in body damage.

 

**ARI 901**

The [large electric transporter ARI 901](https://www.ari-motors.com/en/electric-utility-vehicle) has the safety equipment relevant for this vehicle class with an anti-lock braking system (ABS) as well as a driver and a passenger airbag. While the ABS ensures a short braking distance even on slippery roads, the double airbag together with the 3-point seat belts offer ideal occupant protection in the event of a collision. What safety features do ARI Motors electric vehicles have?

Read on to find out what the electric mini from ARI Motors has in common with a Smart and how it differs from it. And find out which of the two is clearly ahead in terms of cost and trunk space!**

 

## 1) Dimensions, payload and trunk space

 

In terms of dimensions, the Smart ForTwo and the [ARI 902](/en/electric-cars/ari-902) differ only slightly. At 2.69 meters in length, the Smart is slightly shorter than the ARI at 2.95 meters, but in terms of width and height, the two small cars are not much different. The Smart is 1.54 meters high and 1.56 meters wide. This makes it a mere two centimetres taller than the [ARI 902](/en/electric-cars/ari-902) and a whole 7 centimetres wider than the latter. So both have typical mini dimensions and are therefore perfect for urban meandering and jostling.

 

BUT: they differ enormously in one respect. And that is in terms of payload! While the Smart ForTwo makes do with 260 liters of load volume, which is just enough for a shopping bag and a crate of mineral water, the [ARI 902](/en/electric-cars/ari-902) scores with an astonishing 766 liters of load volume. In other words, it offers plenty of space for boxes, crates, tools and goods of all kinds in the smallest of spaces. One of the reasons for this is that it has a space-saving front-wheel drive and a wide-opening tailgate. This makes it easy to load the unobstructed load compartment and provides a view of an optional trunk roller blind, extra storage compartments on the rear of the seats and the cable for the additional battery.

 

The Smart's trunk, on the other hand, is not only smaller, but also divided into two sections and is limited in terms of equipment to a trunk roller blind. But still, it's enough for the bare essentials.

 

## 2) Interior and equipment

 

Both the Smart ForTwo and the [ARI 902](/en/electric-cars/ari-902) offer space for two people and impress with comfortable and robust seats. However, while tall people might have a little trouble with their long legs in the Smart, they can stretch them out in the spacious footwell of the ARI 902. And they don't have to tuck their heads in either, as the electric runabout from ARI Motors also offers plenty of space at the top.

 

As far as the cockpit is concerned, both minis adhere to the maxim "Keep it simple". Superfluous bells and whistles are therefore nowhere to be found. Instead, both vehicles feature functional tools, such as clearly arranged controls for heating & co. as well as a radio for entertainment while driving. Both have a speedometer with speed display, which is digital in the [ARI 902](/en/electric-cars/ari-902) and still has a classic needle in the Smart. The ARI 902 also scores points with a stylish center console with gear selector, a cup holder, a 12V charging connection, a storage tray for cell phones and a hands-free system.

 

In the Smart, the center console is reserved for the ignition lock, which initially seems a little strange, but has no effect on the practicality of the vehicle.

 

## 3) Sound, turning circle and costs

 

While the Smart chugs along quite audibly due to its 3-stroke diesel engine, the [ARI 902](/en/electric-cars/ari-902) with its brushless 15 kW motor is almost as quiet as a whisper. So quiet, in fact, that it even emits a warning beep when it is reversing or has not yet reached the 20 km/h mark.

 

Compared to the ARI 902, the Smart ForTwo is almost like a brother on a bike ;)

 

But that's not all. It also doesn't cut a very good figure compared to the [ARI 902](/en/electric-cars/ari-902) when it comes to costs. With a fuel consumption of 6.5 l/100 km and a liter price of 1.90 euros, it takes a whole 12.35 euros per 100 kilometers out of its owner's pocket. Added to this are taxes of around 54 euros and insurance costs of up to 400 euros per year. That's around 146 euros a month in maintenance costs, which is quite a lot. However, you have to give it credit for the fact that with a turning circle of just 7.30 m and easy handling, it at least ensures that the money spent is reflected in a certain amount of driving pleasure.

With a consumption of 8 kW, it costs just 2.48 euros per 100 kilometers to operate, almost 10 euros less than the Smart.
