What does the term SOC mean for an electric car?

SOC stands for**"State** of Charge" and provides information about the charge status of your vehicle battery. The SOC value therefore tells you how much energy is left in your vehicle's battery.

The SOC value is usually indicated as a percentage using speedometer pointers, such as in the ARI 901 and ARI 902, but sometimes small bars are also used to visualize the state of charge. This is the case with the ARI 458, for example.

So, no big deal really.

But be careful not to confuse SOC with SOH!

SOH stands for "State of Health" and refers to the state of health of the vehicle battery. It therefore indicates how well the battery is still working or how much capacity it has already lost. Determining it is much more complex than reading the SOC, as it requires various measurements and/or calculations.

In simple terms: SOC tells you how full your battery is, while SOH tells you how healthy it is.
