ARI 458 Pro Flatbed as a maintenance vehicle at Messe Essen
Messe Essen is one of Germany’s largest exhibition centers. The grounds in the Rüttenscheid district, right next to Grugapark, offer approximately 110,000 square meters of exhibition space. To ensure that the halls, technical systems, and outdoor facilities run smoothly at every event, the technical building management team is on the move throughout the entire grounds every day. Recently, an ARI 458 Pro with a flatbed has been added to the fleet and is being used there as a maintenance vehicle.
Many short trips between halls, technical rooms, and outdoor areas
The day-to-day work of facility management at an exhibition center consists of numerous short trips in confined spaces. Tools, spare parts, light bulbs, or materials for minor repairs must be quickly transported to where they’re needed—often during ongoing setup and teardown phases and amid streams of visitors. This calls for a vehicle that is compact and maneuverable, offers sufficient cargo space, and can be driven even inside exhibition halls without emitting exhaust fumes.
The ARI 458 Pro flatbed meets this profile exactly. With a length of 3.82 meters and a turning radius of 9.62 meters, it navigates easily through narrow passages and between parked vehicles. The electric drive operates almost silently, which is a noticeable advantage in the context of events, conventions, and visitors.
Customized for the day-to-day work of a facility manager
After delivery, Messe Essen customized the vehicle to fit its own operations. A toolbox was mounted on the flatbed, where the most important work equipment is stored safely and within easy reach. Additionally, a navigation system was retrofitted in the cockpit. This example demonstrates how well the open cargo area of the ARI 458 Pro serves as a basis for custom solutions.
Technical Specifications of the ARI 458 Pro Flatbed
The standard flatbed offers 2.81 square meters of cargo space with a loading edge height of approximately 60 centimeters, which makes loading and unloading heavy items easier. The payload capacity is up to 850 kilograms. Those who need more space can choose from three flatbed sizes and add accessories such as tie-down eyes or a leaf guard.
The electric van is powered by a 15-kW rear motor, and its top speed is 71 km/h. A LiFePO4 battery with a range of 120 to 180 kilometers comes standard; a larger LiFePO4 battery with a range of 180 to 230 kilometers is available as an option. For use at a trade show venue, the standard battery is generally sufficient for several days of work. Charging takes about four to five hours using a standard 230-volt outlet, or alternatively via a wallbox or AC charging station with a Type 2 connector. At an electricity price of 30 cents per kilowatt-hour, the energy costs amount to approximately 3.96 euros per 100 kilometers.
Electric maintenance vehicles for your premises
Whether at a trade show venue, hospital, university campus, industrial park, or residential complex: wherever janitorial services and technical building management involve covering many short distances, the ARI 458 Pro is a cost-effective alternative to traditional internal-combustion vehicles. You can find all body configurations in the overview of ARI 458 Pro flatbed models. Commercial buyers also benefit from the 75-percent special depreciation allowance for electric vehicles purchased by the end of 2027.
