Used ARI 1570 Electric Light-Duty Truck: Equipment Carrier Review
A flatbed trailer, two vehicles as cargo, an exhibition as the destination: This is how the ARI 1570 —a former demonstration vehicle—performed in testing. This article explains who this electric van is suitable for as a used vehicle and where its limitations lie.
With a Trailer to the Exhibition and Back
A large flatbed trailer carrying an ARI Bruni and an ARI 345: That was the load the ARI 1570 towed to an exhibition. The two vehicles were presented there, and then the journey continued back to the depot. A typical day on the job, in other words—not a lab test.
The electric light-duty van is rated for a towing capacity of 1,600 kg with a 200 kg tongue weight. The combination fell far short of this limit during the test. In practical terms, this means that anyone who regularly tows equipment, materials, or smaller vehicles will operate well within safe limits with this vehicle.
Driving with a trailer: agile, quiet, not overly fast
The ARI 1570 has a top speed of about 70 km/h. On inclines, the speed drops. In normal traffic, however, the combination keeps up with the flow, and it can even handle one or two highway on-ramps.
The turning radius is impressive. The combination could be turned around in tight spaces, and even with the significantly larger trailer, maneuvering in confined areas remained manageable. Anyone who works at construction yards, exhibition grounds, or in narrow driveways knows the value of this feature.
Added to this is the quiet electric drive. Compared to an old, rumbling diesel truck, this is a noticeable difference—for drivers as well as for nearby residents.
Cab: A Commercial Vehicle with a Distinctive Presence
The cab seats two adults. The seating position is elevated, the windows are large, and the large rear window provides a clear view to the rear. That’s exactly what matters when maneuvering with a trailer. The dashboard displays only the essentials. The steering wheel can be adjusted closer or farther away.
The picture remains honest when it comes to comfort: The ride is a bit bumpy, and the sound insulation and suspension aren’t up to sedan standards. The ARI 1570 is a classic commercial vehicle, robustly built and designed for functionality. It’s also larger than the other models from ARI Motors.
One Vehicle, Many Tasks in the Community
Cities, municipalities, and local communities can use the ARI 1570 in a variety of ways. The front equipment mounting plate accommodates attachments: brushes, sprayers, a watering system in the summer, and a snow plow in the winter. In addition, there are various body configurations. The ARI 1570 is available as a dump truck or a standard flatbed, as well as a garbage collection vehicle or a telescopic crane with a work basket for repair work. ARI Motors manufactures superstructures according to the client’s requirements, with the base chassis supplied by established chassis partners.
It also has its place as a tow vehicle. Anyone who already has a trailer in their fleet gains another area of application.
Replacing Old Diesel Vehicles: The Case for the Fleet
Where an older diesel vehicle makes short daily trips and work runs, an electric van can handle these tasks more quietly and at a lower operating cost. For fleet operators, it’s worth considering the total package, including towing capacity, equipment mounting plate, and body.
Used Vehicles from the Demonstration Fleet: Options and Configuration
The ARI 1570 is available both new and used. The tested vehicle comes from the demonstration vehicle pool; such vehicles are available for purchase. You can find a current listing at Kompori: ARI 1570 electric tipper truck with a 1,500 kg payload and trailer hitch.
If you’re planning to purchase a new vehicle, you can configure it on the ARI Motors website. An all-wheel-drive version and a larger battery are available as options. Pricing information can be found on the website.
