Electric flatbed truck without doors: The ARI 458 Pro as an irrigation vehicle

At the cemetery, every minute counts between watering cans and graves. The ARI 458 Pro can be equipped for this purpose with a water tank, hose reel, and electric pump — all without doors. The flatbed with three folding side walls and the limited top speed make it the ideal work vehicle for areas with speed limits.

Electric Flatbed for the Cemetery: Quick In, Quick Out

Anyone watering a cemetery often has to get out and back in repeatedly. Doors take time, especially in the summer. That’s why the version of the ARI 458 Pro presented here does away with them entirely. The driver and passenger can get in and out directly and access everything more quickly. The ARI 458 Pro is an L7e-class electric utility vehicle. It offers a payload of up to 850 kg and over 30 body options. The doorless flatbed version demonstrates just how far a vehicle can be adapted to a specific workflow: anything that isn’t needed is eliminated.

Water tank, hose reel, and electric pump

A water tank sits on a pallet on the fixed flatbed. It is not permanently installed but is secured with straps and can be removed as needed. This keeps the flatbed flexible for various uses. A hose reel and an electric pump are mounted on the side. Together, they turn the flatbed truck into an irrigation vehicle. The operation doesn’t need a second truck for water and materials, nor does it require hand carts to be pushed along the paths.

Three fold-down side walls: Loading from all sides

All three side walls of the flatbed can be folded down. This allows the vehicle to be loaded from any side, even with a forklift. For depots and construction yards, this eliminates the need for maneuvering. In addition to the standard flatbed, there is also an L-size flatbed and an XL-size flatbed. If you need to dump material, choose a dump body.

Limited to 25 km/h: Speed Adapted to Terrain

The ARI 458 Pro has a top speed of 72 km/h. For this variant, the speed has been reduced to 25 km/h. In cemeteries and on company premises, no one should be driving too fast. The speed limiter is permanently integrated into the vehicle, ensuring that no driver can exceed the maximum speed.

The vehicle is rear-wheel drive. Leaf springs at the rear support a payload of up to 850 kg. A trailer hitch is available, in which case the towing capacity is 750 kg.

Controls, Camera, and Visibility

Despite the lack of doors, all necessary controls are present: ventilation, gear selector, and ignition switch. A small display is located behind the steering wheel. It serves as a speedometer and shows the image from the backup camera.

The camera turns on automatically when reversing. This is particularly helpful with a box body, where rear visibility is limited. Additionally, the cab has a rear window.

With Doors for Year-Round Use: The 458 Pro in Comparison

The version with doors is technically identical. It’s more versatile, even during the colder months. The doors open wide, making it easy to get in.

Both variants are street-legal and can be driven in normal traffic. A standard Class B driver’s license is sufficient. Fuel consumption and maintenance costs are low; for many customers, these vehicles replace a gasoline-powered car. Business owners are also eligible for a 75% special depreciation allowance through the end of 2027. The GHG quota can be applied for annually.
