ARI 458 Pro flatbed truck in internal use at the Lippendorf power plant near Leipzig

Some of our vehicles travel long distances before reaching their destination. Not this one, though: Just a few kilometers from ARI Motors’ headquarters in Borna lies the Lippendorf power plant on the outskirts of the town of Neukieritzsch near Leipzig. An ARI 458 Pro with a standard flatbed has recently been put into service there and handles internal tasks on the plant grounds.

The power plant, operated by LEAG, consists of two units, each with an installed capacity of approximately 920 megawatts, and supplies not only electricity but also district heating to Leipzig, Böhlen, and Neukieritzsch. The site on which plant components, workshops, warehouses, and administrative buildings are spread out is correspondingly large. The individual routes are short, but they quickly add up over the course of a workday and consist of many short trips with frequent stops. For this driving profile, a compact electric van is the significantly more economical solution than a vehicle with an internal combustion engine, which never really gets up to speed on such routes.

With its standard flatbed, the ARI 458 Pro offers a loading area 2.02 meters long and 1.40 meters wide—about 2.8 square meters—with a loading edge height of just 60 centimeters. Tools, materials, or small parts can thus be loaded conveniently and without lifting aids. The payload capacity of up to 850 kilograms provides additional capacity for heavier loads. At the same time, with a length of 3.82 meters and a width of 1.49 meters, the vehicle remains compact enough to maneuver between buildings, inside warehouses, and on narrow service roads.

The ARI 458 Pro is powered by a LiFePO4 battery that can be fully charged in four to six hours using a standard 230-volt household outlet. No dedicated charging infrastructure is required. After charging overnight, the vehicle is ready for use the next morning with a full range—which is rarely fully utilized in on-site operations anyway. Added benefits include zero-emission operation, which allows for travel in enclosed areas, as well as a quiet drive and energy costs of around four euros per 100 kilometers.
