What is the payload of my ARI Motors electric vehicle?
ARI Motors’ range of electric commercial vehicles is as diverse as the tasks our customers face. Whether you run a bakery delivery service, a landscaping business, a public works department or a parcel service, there is a suitable vehicle for every industry—and payloads vary accordingly. To help you see exactly how much your ARI can carry, we have compiled an up-to-date overview of all models, from agile cargo mopeds to an equipment carrier with a payload of around 1.5 tonnes.
What does payload mean?
Payload, also known as carrying capacity, is the difference between a vehicle’s permitted gross vehicle weight and its unladen weight. It tells you how much additional weight you may load into the vehicle. Important: passengers and any equipment fitted afterwards, such as shelving systems, tool cabinets or a tow bar, also reduce the available payload. The body type and battery version affect the unladen weight and therefore the payload too. The binding figure for your configuration is always in the data sheet and vehicle documents.
ARI 345 cargo mopeds: 325 kg payload
Designed especially for urban delivery and service work, the ARI 345 cargo mopeds offer an impressive payload of 325 kg despite their compact dimensions. The three-wheeled cargo trike is available as a flatbed and with a box body in several sizes, with a loading length of up to 1.55 metres; it is also available as a sales vehicle and food truck. Alongside the standard ARI 345 with its open cab, there is the ARI 345 Cabin with an enclosed driver’s cab and the ARI 345 Retro with its charming Ape-inspired styling. All variants share the same technology and can be driven from the age of 15 with a category AM moped licence.
ARI 458 Pro electric van: up to 850 kg payload
The ARI 458 Pro electric van is the workhorse of the ARI range. Depending on the body, it can carry up to 850 kg and is available with more than 30 different body options, from a box body and flatbed variants to refuse-collection and sales vehicles. The ARI 458 Pro comes as standard with a LiFePO4 battery, which is significantly lighter than earlier lead-acid batteries, leaving more capacity for the actual load. Our article “What fits in the ARI 458 Pro’s box body?” shows how much space is available: even the standard box body can take two Euro pallets.
Discontinued ARI 458: 531 to 648 kg payload
The predecessor to the ARI 458 Pro is still available as a discontinued model while stocks last. As with its successor, payload depends heavily on the battery: it is 531 kg with the SLA lead-acid battery and rises to as much as 648 kg with the significantly lighter LiFePO4 battery. If you are considering one of the remaining ARI 458 vehicles, ask about the available configurations soon. Our ARI 458 and ARI 458 Pro comparison explains the differences.
ARI 901 electric transporter: around 900 to 1,100 kg payload
The ARI 901 electric transporter is an N1-class vehicle designed for larger transport jobs and reaches speeds of up to 100 km/h. Payload varies by body: the ARI 901 panel van with 4.3 m³ of cargo space carries around 900 kg, while the pickup and box-body versions carry around 1,100 kg. The pickup, box body and tipper are available in three sizes, with loading lengths of 2.86 m, 3.06 m and 3.26 m; the largest box body offers up to 7.6 m³ of cargo volume.
ARI 901 XL and ARI 1710 panel vans: up to 1,475 kg payload
For moving both a large volume and heavy loads, choose one of the larger panel vans. The ARI 901 XL panel van combines 6.4 m³ of cargo space with a payload of 1,375 kg and a range of up to 300 km. One class larger is the ARI 1710 panel van, with up to 12 m³ of cargo volume. It is available with a permitted gross vehicle weight of 3.5 or 4.25 tonnes and with two battery options, so payload varies accordingly: depending on the battery and gross vehicle weight, the ARI 1710 can carry between 630 and 1,475 kg. Which combination suits your needs is explained in our article “What fits in the ARI 1710’s cargo area?”
ARI 1570 electric equipment carrier: around 1,500 kg payload
The ARI 1570 electric equipment carrier offers the highest payload in the ARI range. This N1-class vehicle carries around 1,500 kg and is available as a flatbed, tipper, refuse-collection vehicle, hook loader and winter-service vehicle. The universal equipment mounting plate at the front also allows attachments such as a sweeper or snowplough to be fitted, making the ARI 1570 particularly interesting for municipalities, public works departments and landscaping businesses.
ARI electric cars: 270 to 531 kg payload
Payload matters for passenger vehicles too, since occupants count alongside shopping and luggage. The two-seat ARI 802, in vehicle class L7e, offers a remarkably high payload of 531 kg for its size. The four-seat ARI Bruni has a payload of 270 kg and is designed for everyday city use with family or friends. The ARI Poly, a full-fledged M1 passenger car, can carry 485 kg.

Carry more with a trailer
If the payload alone is not enough, many ARI models can carry additional loads with an optional tow bar. The ARI 458 Pro can tow braked trailers of up to 750 kg, the ARI 901 up to 900 kg and the ARI 1570 up to 1,600 kg. For more detail, see our English article on the ARI 458 Pro’s trailer coupling and 750 kg towing capacity.
